CornStyle
Corn whiskey is made from at least 80% corn. If it is aged, it goes into used or uncharred new oak, never new charred oak, which keeps it light, grainy and sweet.
The Rules
- At least 80% corn
- Distilled to no more than 160 proof
- If aged: used or uncharred new oak, at no more than 125 proof
- Can be sold unaged
What To Expect
Sweet corn, cereal and light fruit; unaged versions are clear and grainy.
Why It Matters
The descendant of moonshine. The barrel rule is the line between corn whiskey and bourbon.
